Foam-Control MAX® is used in a wide range of critical insulation applications: Cavity Wall, Wall Sheathing, EIFS, Stucco, Crawl Space, and Precast Concrete Core. All of these applications benefit from the exceptional physical properties and wide range of board thicknesses, sizes, and options available with Foam-Control MAX.

Foam-Control MAX® graphite enhanced molded polystyrene is for all types of industrial, packaging, and construction uses. Foam-Control MAX conforms to ASTM C578, “Standard Specification for Rigid, Cellular Polystyrene Thermal Insulaion”.

Proven to meet, or exceed, building codes. Foam-Control MAX is manufactured under an industry leading quality control program monitored by UL and further recognized in UL Evaluation Report UL ER11812-05. Foam-Control MAX meets ASTM C578, “Standard Specification for Rigid, Cellular Polystyrene Thermal Insulation”.

This table outlines the basic physical properties of Foam-Control MAX® and extruded Polystyrene (XPS) insulation in accordance with ASTM C578, “Standard Specification for Rigid, Cellular Polystyrene Thermal Insulation”.

When purchasing insulation materials, the cost per R-value and strength are critical benchmarks. Foam-Control MAX is available with compressive strengths of 10, 15, and 25 psi. Foam-Control MAX insulation provides more thermal resistance (R-value) per dollar than Polyiso.

Long-Term Thermal Resistance (LTTR) Test Methods.
The concept of predicting the thermal resistance of an insulation over time has evolved considerably in the past decade. Two test methods are commonly used to report R-value for materials with trapped gases other than air. The test methods are ASTM C1303 and CAN/ULC-S770. Both test methods provide a method to estimate the Long-Term Thermal Resistance or long-term R-value of insulations.

This fact sheet contains important information about Foam-Control MAX® insulations. These products, manufactured by Foam-Control Licensees, are made of graphite enhanced expanded polystyrene foam insulation. Foam-Control MAX rigid board foam plastic is for all types of industrial, packaging, and construction uses. Foam-Control MAX meets ASTM C578, “Standard Specification for Rigid, Cellular Polystyrene Thermal Insulation”.

Building codes are established to provide structural, fire, and life safety requirement for all buildings. Building codes have specific requirements for materials, insulation, structural, and fire performance.
